Uzbek women's boxers snatch two bronze medals at World Championship

"For the first time in history": Women's boxing team of Uzbekistan has won 2 medals at the World Championship.

The national team of Uzbekistan has completed its participation in the world championship in boxing among women, which takes place in Istanbul (Turkey). The participation of our athletes has become historic for the Uzbek school of boxing, which presented the first medals with the World Championship among women, the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan noted.

It is reported that Mohira Abdullayeva, who performed in the weight category over 81 kg, was injured in the 1st round of the semifinal fight and was unable to continue the meeting. Therefore, the judges gave an early victory to her rival Khaizha Mardi from Morocco, and the Uzbek woman won the bronze medal. In the competition on May 18, Aziza Yakubova also took third place in the weight category up to 50 kg.

“The world championship ended for the national team of Uzbekistan with 2 bronze medals. This is the highest result in the history of the Uzbek boxing school at the Women's World Boxing Championships,” the NOC noted.
