Samarkand museums purchase rare ancient exhibits

In accordance with the decision of the Regional Council of people's Deputies, over $44 thousand (500 million soums) were allocated to the Samarkand State Museum-Reserve.

At the expense of this funds, the museums purchased about 600 items of historical and artistic value, such a dozen Color-Image Works, historical costumes, embroidery, photographic equipment, household items, silk carpets and jewelry. These also include 41 bronze mirror collections belonging to the II century BC and the XIV century AD, a collection of 180 silver coins of mainly Karakhani Ibrahim ibn Nasr, 236 dinars and dirhams of Chagatai Khans (Bayangulikhan and Tarmashirin).

Within the framework of this action, it was noted that additional $267 thousand (3 billion soums) from the state budget will be allocated annualy, to the Cultural Heritage Fund for the purchase of cultural assets to state museums, including works of fine and applied art created during the years of independence. In addition, $45 thousand (500 million soums) from the budget of Uzbek government will be allocated for this project.
