Uzbekistan strengthens cooperation with Pakistan in pilgrimage tourism
As part of the “Uzbekistan Road Show,” promotional events were held in major cities of Pakistan to showcase Uzbekistan’s tourism potential. These efforts aim to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in pilgrimage tourism.
The first event was held in Lahore, a city of over 14 million residents. The event gathered over 500 participants, including officials from the Punjab Tourism Development Corporation, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the South Asian Center for International Studies, local tourism businesses, as well as representatives from Uzbekistan’s tourism sector and tour operators. The meetings were conducted in “G2B” and “B2B” formats, during which both sides discussed ways to develop two-way tourism through expanded infrastructure and support for travelers from both countries.
As part of the event, a presentation titled “Uzbekistan – The Pearl of the Silk Road” was showcased. Representatives of local Pakistani companies and organizations working in the tourism sector expressed interest in collaborating with Uzbekistan, particularly in the area of pilgrimage tourism. The Uzbek side, in turn, welcomed the initiative and confirmed readiness for cooperation.
An exhibition dedicated to Uzbekistan’s tourism potential was also organized within the framework of the event. It featured displays of national clothing and informative materials about the country’s most popular attractions, including historical monuments and religious sites. Brochures and magazines attracted considerable attention from local businesses and organizations.
The Road Show aimed at promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism capacity will continue with further events in Karachi and Islamabad.
