Samarkand and Valencia set to become sister cities
The parties agreed to sign a Protocol on establishing friendly relations between Valencia and Samarkand in the first half of 2018, as well as hosting major cultural and tourist event "Days of Samarkand in Valencia".
The autonomous community of Valencia is one of the most ancient regions of Spain. The tourism sector, constituting about 15% in its structure plays a key role in the province`s economy. The industry employs over 15% of all able-bodied inhabitants in the community. In recent years, the tourism has become the "engine" of economic development in the region.
In order to study the experience of Valencia in the development of the tourism sector and other sectors of the economy, the hokim of Samarkand Furkat Rakhimov paid a visit to this region during his trip in Spain, IA "Jahon" said.
Rakhimov held meetings and negotiations with the Chairman of the government of the autonomous community of Valencia Jaime Paigem, his Deputy for tourism Francis Colomer, a member of the Spain Congress and coordinator of the UNESCO program "Silk Road" Jose Maria Cicio, President of the Federation of Travel Agencies of the region Salvador Amorós, representatives of tourism agencies and companies specialized in the field of winemaking, gastronomy business and textile production.
