Mirziyoyev unveils massive plans as he meets voters in Bukhara region
The candidate for president of Uzbekistan from Liberal Democratic Party, as part of his trip to Bukhara unveiled plans to implement 5,000 projects totaling $8bn in the coming years.
The project for the construction of a gas chemical complex in the Karakul district is to be the largest of them. The $2.7bn plant is to process 1.3bn cubic meters of natural gas per year and produce 770,000 tons of polymers.
Plans were also announced to implement 180 projects worth $450mn dollars in the textile industry and 282 projects worth $937mn in the construction materials industry. Wind, solar and thermal power plants are to be built to supply these enterprises and the population.
He also said that water-saving technologies would be implemented at 126,000 hectares. Some 100,000 hectares of land would be allocated for growing vegetables and fruits, 15,000 hectares of cotton and grain fields would be reduced and leased to the population on the basis of an open tender.
“Bukhara has long been known as the land of entrepreneurs and artisans. If we use this potential to create conditions for the population, teach professions and provide a little help, we can easily provide 90,000 people with jobs", Mirziyoyev said.
Some $4.7bn is to be allocated from the state budget for the socio-economic development of the Bukhara region in the next five years, 280,000 new jobs are to be created.
