Parliament – for social development and justice
The International Congress Center opened its main event hall for the General Debate. Over 140 parliamentary delegations from around the world joined the session, which focused on “Parliamentary Action for Social Development and Justice.”
Delegates discussed three essential and interconnected pillars of sustainable development: protecting the environment, promoting social development, and driving economic growth. Social development empowers every individual within society to reach their full potential. It focuses on building equitable, inclusive, and just communities where all people can access the same rights, resources, and opportunities. In short, true progress puts human well-being at the heart of development. Throughout the debate, representatives emphasized how parliaments drive social development and justice. They shared national experiences, successful policies, and forward-looking proposals.
Over the past 30 years, globalization and rapidly changing trade rules have deepened inequality within national economies. Unequal income distribution—especially gender inequality—has allowed a small group of people to amass much of the world’s wealth. Delegates agreed that high-level gatherings like this Assembly help parliaments coordinate efforts across borders. These platforms strengthen the push for justice, equality, and inclusive growth around the world.
As the voice of the people, parliaments must take the lead in advancing justice and social development. We believe that today’s proposals, discussions, and conclusions will shape the final Tashkent Declaration. This document will help the world move closer to equality and social fairness.
