Uzbekistan and Japan sign memorandum in the field of environmental protection
Prospects for further intensification of Uzbek-Japanese ties in the field of ecology were discussed at the meeting of the FM of Uzbekistan and Minister of Environment of Japan Akihiro Nishimura.
According to Nishimura, he was impressed by the results of measures taken in Uzbekistan to protect the environment, combat climate change, rational use of water resources, and the introduction of renewable energy sources.
The parties welcomed the previously signed Memorandum of Cooperation on the "Joint Lending Mechanism", which provides an attraction of Japanese investments in order to introduce "green" technologies and accelerate the decarbonization process in Uzbekistan.
Japan is ready to continue to assist Uzbekistan in overcoming the consequences of the drying up of the Aral Sea, including through participation in the activities of the Multi-Partner Trust Fund for Human Security in the Aral Sea area.
