“Open Budget” voting kicks off
Starting today, on March 13, the voting phase for the "Open Budget" will commence, lasting until April 1. As per the "Open budget" portal, over 35,000 initiatives were submitted from almost 10,000 neighborhoods.
In 2024, over 3 trillion soums are designated for financing projects in the first season of the "Open Budget" initiative. The highest project value this year amounts to 1 billion 360 million soums. Starting this year, the voting phase in the "Open Budget" procedures follows the principle of one citizen, one vote, with a system in place to verify the identity of voters and prevent multiple votes from individuals with multiple phone number cards.
The first stage of the program, addressing social issues in regions, occurred from February 1 to February 20, with project selection by a special commission taking place from February 21 to March 11. From 2021 to 2023, approximately 8 trillion soums were allocated from the state budget for "Open Budget" processes. During this period, around ten thousand projects were recognized as winners, leading to the resolution of social issues in over five thousand neighborhoods.
