Surkhandarya hosts gastronomic festival and fair of national cuisine
The first gastronomic festival and fair of national cuisine were held in the city of Termez, Surkhandarya region. The event was organized by the Main Department of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the region, the administration of the Surkhandarya region and partner organizations.
The Surkhandarya region with its unique dishes and cuisine is a favourable region for developing gastronomic tourism. An oasis with a rich history and culture, unique architectural and archaeological monuments, the nature of Sulim, and healing waters are of great interest to tourists all over the world. For example, this year, 824,500 local and 143,900 foreign tourists from 85 countries of the world arrived in the region. In addition, 777 thousand 700 tourists from the Surkhandarya region made trips to the various areas of the republic within the framework of the "Travel to Uzbekistan" program. According to the festival's results, the Sariasi district's chefs won the nomination for “Best table decoration”, the Kumkurgan district took the second place, and the Muzrabatsky district -the third.
In the nomination "The best kind of national cuisine", the cooks of the Boysun district were awarded first place, the cooks of the Termez district - second, and the cooks of the city of Termez - third.
