On November 16, the UzVC national venture fund will hold the first conference dedicated to the launch of the Startup Growth (SGP) program. The first SGP conference will help to study the world experience and understand how Uzbekistan should develop the startup and venture capital ecosystem and enter the global arena. Special speakers Asher Siddiqui, General Partner, Sukna Ventures, and Marvin Liao, Partner, Diaspora Ventures, will share stories and insights on how to build and run Silicon Valley startups.
The program is supported by the state and aims to provide Uzbek startups with world-class experience in terms of growth and access to foreign markets. Ten startups will be selected to participate in the program, where along with the startups in the UzVC portfolio, the accepted teams will get an idea of the latest trends in the startup world. The SGP covers key issues such as market entry, milestones and metrics, as well as fundraising strategies needed to grow and enter markets outside of Uzbekistan.
At the conference, UzVC CEO Dilshod Khashimov, UzVC Senior Advisor Alisher Shaykhov, UNDP Inclusive Development Cluster Acting Head Bahodir Bekov, Express24 CEO and Founder Akmal Payziev, I2BF Global Ventures Investment Director Denis Kalishkin, Pulsar.vc partner Adrien Henney (France) ) speakers will participate.
UzVC intends to turn SGP into an annual initiative to educate entrepreneurs about risks and opportunities, and therefore increase the success rate of companies and business angels emerging from Uzbekistan and ready to conquer the world. These startups need organizational support to overcome challenges to generate sufficient revenue streams to grow and thrive.
