Uzbekistan marks 80th anniversary of Hojiakbar Shaykhov
This year marks the 80th anniversary of Hojiakbar Shaykhov’s birth. Known for his science fiction and journalistic works, he wrote over 10 science fiction stories, short stories, and novels. His first story, A Strange Dream, was published in Gulkhan magazine in 1959. Through his works, he uniquely depicted the struggle between good and evil, truth and falsehood, and tolerance and selfishness in a science fiction style.
The creator's works are mainly in the fantasy genre, with events unfolding not only on Earth but across the universe, including neighboring planets. However, despite this vast setting, the characters remain deeply connected to the lives and concerns of people today.
Hojiakbar Shaykhov was one of nine children in his family. His relatives remember him as a simple and sincere person. His sister shared that he taught her to live with gratitude.
Hojiakbar Shaykhov was recognized as the first Uzbek science fiction writer and included in the world's most prestigious encyclopedia published in the United States.
