Competition committee received 21,000 consumer appeals in 2023
In 2023, the Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights received 21,000 appeals from consumers. These appeals mainly concern issues in housing, transport, trade, and public catering. Additionally, over 900 appeals were related to the finance sector. It was reported at the training seminar held in the capital.
At the beginning of the event, head of the representative office of the German cooperation in Uzbekistan, delivered a presentation. He provided comprehensive information about the banking system in Germany and its consumer practices. The specialist also noted that Germany currently hosts 1,300 banks, each competing vigorously for customers, resulting in intense competition.
The expert emphasized that if every consumer is aware of their rights, competition will naturally evolve. Numerous issues exist within Uzbekistan's financial system. Recommendations were provided during the meeting to enhance financial literacy and familiarize individuals with existing laws.
