Uzbek residents waste over $20,000 on ‘beautiful’ car plates
In 2022, Uzbek citizens purchased over 118 thousand personal car license plates, the press service of the commodity exchange reports. The number of combinations implemented through UZEX Avtoraqam decreased by about 15% compared to the indicator of the previous year. The largest number of license plates by region were purchased in Tashkent city and Tashkent region (31%), Samarkand and Kashkadarya (8% each), Namangan, Andijan and Surkhandarya (7% each), as well as Khorezm (6%) regions.
The average cost of one transaction accounted for 2.6 million soums. At the same time, 91% of the sold license plates were purchased by individuals and 9% by legal entities. Over the past period, the minimum cost of the sold license plate made up 494.9 thousand soums. The sum of the most expensive license plate accounted for 348.0 million soums ($27,030).
As a result of competitive bidding, 5% of completed transactions fall on premium–class autonomous vehicles, 8% - in the 2nd category, 8% – in the 3rd category, 11% - in the 4th category, 22% – in the 5th category and 46% - on the 6th category of autonomous vehicles.
