Uzbekistan and South Korea Strengthen Partnership with Key Projects
The National Assembly of the Republic of Korea in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis held a meeting. They discussed the progress of implementing practical action plans approved in the decision to deepen the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and South Korea.
This year, a $7 million project to expand optical fiber production started in the Jizzakh region, producing 85,000 kilometers of optical fiber cables annually. In the Fergana region, a $7 million Vocational Training Center was fully launched, providing training to 223 unemployed individuals, mainly young people and women. A similar project was initiated in the Khorezm region.
The Government of South Korea has allocated $74 million for the project to equip regional medical facilities with 8,455 medical devices of various types from South Korea.
Additionally, a $5.6 million "Green Recovery" project is underway in the Karakalpakstan region to address the consequences of the Aral Sea crisis. Furthermore, the Global Institute of Green Growth from Korea has opened a representative office in Uzbekistan and is financing the green recovery efforts in the Aral Bay region.
