Uzbekistan introduces license plates signs for scooters and mopeds

Uzbek government has introduced separate license plate signs for mopeds and scooters. A draft government decision outlining the regulation for state registration of these vehicles has been published. As of January 1, 2025, the use of unregistered vehicles of this type will be prohibited in accordance with current legal requirements.

Commencing July 1, 2024, applications for vehicle registration and issuance of registration number plates will be processed online via the Road Safety Service's mobile application, website, Call Center, or Unified Interactive State Services portal. Registration number plates will be allocated through automatic random selection in the "State Number Plates" module of the Road Safety Service's Unified Automated Information System. Vehicles with engine capacities ranging from 25 cm3 to 50 cm3 or electric motors with power between 0.25 kW and 4 kW, and design speeds from 25 km/h to 50 km/h, will require special registration number plates.

New vehicles of this type will follow standard registration procedures from July 1, 2024, while existing ones will adhere to the temporary regulation. Special trade organizations involved in the sale of mopeds and scooters will integrate into the "Vehicle Accounts" module of the Road Safety Service's Unified Automated Information System by July 1, 2024, facilitating electronic submission of vehicle accounts. The Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance will provide information on engine volumes and electric motor specifications for vehicles entering Uzbekistan.
