Uzbekistan Reveals Workforce Breakdown
The Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Employment in Uzbekistan has released data on employment as of July 1. Out of a total of 5.5 million employed individuals, 553.7 thousand are hired through employment departments, while 4.9 million are self-employed. State organizations employ 2.2 million people, whereas the private sector employs 3.3 million individuals.
Additionally, over 70,800 disabled individuals and more than 601,700 retired employees are working in both state and non-state sectors. There are 110.9 thousand working students, with 57% in the public sector, 40% in the private sector, and 3% in both sectors. The industry with the highest number of employees is manufacturing, employing 1.2 million people. The manufacturing industry is followed by agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, which employ 979.8 thousand and 761.5 thousand individuals, respectively.
In terms of job availability, there are 753.5 thousand registered employers through the national labor system, with a total of 5.5 million job seekers. The number of vacant positions stands at 305.5 thousand.
