Water Analysis Reveals Pollution Levels in Tashkent Canals
Water samples from canals in Tashkent were analyzed by specialists from Uzhydromet. The analysis determined the level of chemical pollutants in the water, using a scale ranging from very clean to extremely dirty.
Out of all the canals in Tashkent, only the Ankhor canal has clean water flowing through it. The water pollution index (WPI) for the Ankhor canal was 0.83, indicating a level II cleanliness.
The other canals have varying degrees of pollution. The Burjar canal has moderately polluted water of class III, with a WPI of 1.05. The Bozsu canal also has moderately polluted water of class III, with a WPI of 1.15. The Karasu canal falls under class III for moderately polluted water, with a WPI of 1.68. The Salar canal has water of class IV, indicating higher pollution, with a WPI of 2.88.
Additionally, the specialists examined the nearby reservoirs. The Charvak reservoir was on the verge of class III pollution, with a WPI of 0.99. The Tuyabuguz reservoir falls under class III with moderately polluted water, having a WPI of 1.22.
It is important to note that water quality levels 1-3 are suitable for bathing.
