Uzbekistan establishes Committee for development of sericulture and karakul farming
Members of the Republican Association "Korakulchilik" will be allocated subsidies to cover the cost of purchasing hand-made machines.
The new decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev provides for the creation of karakul clusters in all regions of the Republic until July 1, 2021.
Pastures intended for raising karakul sheep, including lands of the Forest Fund are leased to clusters.
Starting from January 1, 2021, clusters are subject to the procedure for granting subsidies for the reconstruction and construction of the new mine and vertical wells in the regions.
Members of the Republican Association "Korakulchilik" will be allocated subsidies to cover the cost of purchasing hand-made machines.
The decree also establishes a Committee for the development of sericulture and karakul breeding, whose main task is to implement unified state policy in the field of sericulture and karakul breeding.
In addition, exporting silk waste (including silk wool) and raw silk (HS code-5002 and 5003) through the customs border of Uzbekistan from January 1, 2021 will cost $0.05 for each kilogram.
