Namangan City construction suspended
The complex was planned to be built on the site of Furkat and Gulistan mahallas. Residents whose homes were planned to be demolished have opposed the decision.
Acting mayor of Namangan region Shavkat Abdurazzakov announced the suspension of the construction of Namangan City, UzA news agency reported.
The complex was planned to be built on the site of Furkat and Gulistan mahallas. Residents whose homes were planned to be demolished have opposed the decision.
Instead, it is proposed to improve neighborhoods. A new Smart City project is set to be implemented instead of Namangan City.
The construction of Namangan City was planned by a Saudi Arabian company. A corresponding Memorandum was signed by the General Director of Alqusaier Somrapu Abdul Aziz al-Qusayr and the mayor of Namangan region Khairullo Bozorov last year.
