Armenia announces achievement of truce with Azerbaijan
Armenia has reached peace agreements with Azerbaijan. This was announced by the Secretary of the country's Security Council Armen Grigoryan on the air of the Public Television of Armenia. "Thanks to the participation of the international community, it was possible to agree on a truce with Azerbaijan on September 14 from 20:00. We hope that Azerbaijan will comply with this agreement," Grigoryan said.
The Secretary of the Security Council stressed that there are no agreements on any further steps, only a ceasefire agreement has been reached.
On the night of September 13, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported that units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened intense fire in the direction of the settlements of Goris, Sotk and Jermuk using artillery, large-calibre and light small arms. The Armenian Security Council held an emergency meeting at which it was decided to seek help from Russia in order to use the provisions of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, as well as the CSTO and the UN Security Council. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in parliament on Wednesday that 105 soldiers were killed as a result of Azerbaijani actions. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, in turn, stressed that the country's armed forces are taking retaliatory measures, placing responsibility for what is happening on the military-political leadership of Armenia. The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported the death of 50 servicemen.
It should be noted that on the night of September 12-13, an intense firefight began on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border. According to the data, positions near the Armenian border towns of Sotk, Vardenis, Goris, Kapan, Artanish, Ishkhanasar and Jermuk in the southeastern part of the republic came under fire.
