Israel ratifies Uzbekistan's WTO membership
Uzbekistan ratified its WTO membership during a conference in the United Arab Emirates, with Israel conducting the ratification ceremony. The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Israel confirmed this development. The Minister of Economy of Israel, Nir Barkat, signed the relevant document during a meeting with Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister, Jamshid Khojayev. Barkat emphasized the economic opportunities for Israeli companies through strengthened cooperation. For membership, Uzbekistan needs the consent of all 160 WTO member states, which it is currently working to secure.
The WTO established on January 1, 1995, aims to liberalize international trade and regulate trade and political relations among its members. Becoming a member involves negotiations, implementing necessary economic and legislative measures to comply with WTO rules, and gaining confirmation from WTO members.
