Free food for lonely elderly and veterans replaced with payments
By a decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dated June 8, a fundamentally new social security system for participants and veterans of World War II will be applied, the Ministry of Justice reports.
A new form of support is provided for veterans of the war of 1941-1945, former underage prisoners of Nazi concentration camps, and citizens who worked during the blockade of the city of Leningrad. The measures are also designed for lonely elderly and persons with disabilities who need outside care.
Innovations include:
- instead of food products and hygienic goods delivered free of charge, a monthly additional payment is introduced in a single amount of BRF (300,000 soums);
- instead of the necessary clothes and shoes, delivered free of charge, compensation for the purchase of clothes is introduced, annually paid in August in the amount of 15 times the amount of the BRF (4.5 million soums).
