Uzbek student enrollment in U.S. soars over 72%
The U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan reports that the number of Uzbek students studying in the United States has set a new record, surpassing 1,000. This marks an over 72% increase from the previous academic year.
In the 2021/2022 academic year, 631 Uzbek students were enrolled in U.S. higher education institutions, and this number rose to almost 1,100 for this academic year. Among them, 57.2% were pursuing undergraduate programs, almost 30% were in graduate programs, 8% were engaged in optional courses, and 5% were enrolled in short-term English or other study programs.
The report indicates a broader trend, noting that the overall number of international students in the United States surpassed 1 million in the last academic year, reflecting a 14% increase from the previous year.
The "Open Doors 2023" report, developed by the Institute of International Education (IIE) and the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), underscores the U.S. as a leading destination for international students. The report highlights that students from nearly every country worldwide choose the United States for their higher education.
