Qanot Sharq receives its first Airbus A320

Uzbekistan’s only private airline Qanot Sharq has received its first Airbus A320. Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov on April 26 attended a solemn “greeting ceremony” for the new aircraft.

By the end of the year, the company plans to have at least three A320s and A330s in its fleet, with the second delivery coming already within 20 days.

"The airline operates both international and domestic flights ... We will offer them to base in Samarkand, where we intend to launch “open sky” regime", said Abdukhakimov.

In February this year, the American Air Lease Corporation announced a long-term lease of two used A320-200 aircraft to Qanot Sharq.

Founded back in 1998, Qanot Sharq currently operates international flights to Istanbul, Ankara, Dubai, Jeddah, Medina, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Almaty.
