Uzbekistan builds $75mn worth international trade center in Termez

The Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on July 26 reviewed the mast plan of $75mn worth international trade center, the construction of which is currently under way in the city of Termez of Surkhandarya region.

Laid at 26 hectares of land, the center would have 1,800 retail outlets, a logistics center and warehouses with a capacity of almost 1mn tons of cargo, an expocenter with an area of 1,600 meters, as well as two hotels, a hostel, a hospital, car maintenance points and other facilities.

The center would also enjoy special tax and customs regimes, the procedure for visa-free stay for up to 10 days, as well as the “single window " principle.

According to estimates, the annual trade turnover of the shopping center would be around $500mn, with the export volume amounting to $200mn. More than 5,600 jobs are set to be created.

On the same day, Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of other projects for the construction of cultural, medical, trade and service facilities.

A modern library is soon to erect in the Alisher Navoi National Park of Uzbekistan. The initial plan was shown a month ago.

The architecture of the library was inspired by the ancient monuments of the country. All the requirements related to the storage of a huge book fund, conditions for readers, cultural leisure, and various events were taken into account.

Mirziyoyev also informed about the progress of work on the organization of oncological and hematology centers.

A new building is set to be built for the Republican Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology.

More than 5 hectares of land have been allocated for this center on the territory of the clinic of the Tashkent Medical Academy. The project was developed taking into account the best practices of foreign medical institutions. Cooperation is underway with the South Korean group Daedong Medical Consulting. It unites more than 50 consulting companies and has participated in the construction of more than 600 institutions in Korea and abroad.
