President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspects transport infrastructure project proposals in Tashkent

Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev Monday inspected the transport infrastructure projects proposals in the capital Tashkent. In a bid to continue efforts to create better passengers' convenience for the trip, the plan envisages constructing an underground metro line from the Buyuk Ipak Yuli station to the Tashkent Tractor Plant block, as well as implementing the second stage of the construction of the aboveground ring metro.

Two options for laying an underground line are being worked out; through Mirzo Ulugbek Street or Buyuk Ipak Yuli Street. According to preliminary estimates, in the first case, the length of the line would be 8.6 kilometers with a carrying capacity of 62 thousand passengers per day. In the second option, the length of the route would be 8 kilometers with carrying a capacity of 55 thousand people per day. The construction work is expected to last 5 years.

The second stage of the overground metro provides for the laying of more than 11 kilometers of elevated tracks from the Kuylyuk block to station No. 5 of the Sergeli line. It is planned that the line would consist of seven stations, with a capacity of 38 thousand passengers per day.

A project was also presented to expand the overpass from Babur Street to the Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport with the construction of a ring-shaped bypass bridge.
