President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspects infrastructure projects

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the projects on construction; the transport infrastructure improvements as well the steps taken in a bid to renovate the gas supply system, including the Tashkent-Chinaz highway repair as part of the measures aimed at repairing a 10-kilometer stretch of road, building 5 underpasses, and accessing roads of local significance. The presentation also covered the project of the capital’s Temur Malik Street with the task of expanding it to 6 lanes. Besides, it is envisaged to construct a 210-meter overpass along Uzbekistan Street in the city of Jizzakh. President Mirziyoyev has approved these projects and instructed deputies to develop appropriate documents to implement them.

Proposals for the introduction of public-private partnerships in the gas transportation system were also considered. Modernization of the system is of key importance since more than half of the gas pipelines in the country – 45 thousand kilometers - have been exploited for more than thirty years by now. As a result, their efficiency has decreased to 20%. In particular, the current gas supply system of Jizzakh city comprises 767 kilometers of gas pipelines, 6 gas distribution stations, and more than 1.6 thousand gas distribution points.

As part of the project, using advanced technical solutions, it is planned to dismantle the old gas pipelines and lay more than 1.5 thousand kilometers of new ones. In addition, it is envisaged to reduce the number of gas distribution stations from 6 to 2 and switch from a three-stage to a two-stage gas supply scheme. This would help eliminate the current losses in the city's gas supply system totaling nearly 115 million cubic meters.

The President paid special attention to the effectiveness of this project, pointed out the need to accelerate its implementation. An instruction was given to implement a similar project simultaneously in the city of Gulistan, the Syrdarya region, and then in other regions of the country. All these changes will contribute to the streamlining of the gas distribution and accounting system, stable and adequate supply to the population.
