Uzbekistan implements new excise stamps for alcohol and tobacco
The Uzbek Government decided to introduce new excise stamps for alcohol and tobacco products starting from August 1 this year.
Producers and importers can use both the old and new excise stamps together for their alcohol and tobacco products for the next 5 months. During this time, they can also sell the remaining products labeled with the old stamps.
After the 5-month period, any alcohol and tobacco products in the wholesale and retail market with the old-style excise stamps will be considered unmarked and will be withdrawn as per the regulations.
From November 1, 2024, strict actions will be taken to identify and prevent the import, production, and sale of alcohol and tobacco products with old-style excise stamps.
The producers of vodka products have the flexibility to determine their own storage and shelf life, which can be up to 24 months.
